G overnment of India has struck-off " 238223 Shell companies " available in different states. There is no proper definition for Shell Company in the Companies Act but few companies are termed and highlighted as " Shell Companies " because these companies are mainly used for illegal purposes without having any business operations. Illegal purposes list includes: 1) TAX EVASION 2) MONEY LAUNDERING 3) OBSCURING OWNERSHIP 4) BENAMI PROPERTIES AND SO ON A special task force is been set up by Government of India and frequent drives are been conducted by these officials to find out the shell companies.
